Improving energy efficiency and financial stability also benefits the environment
Canolfan Beaumaris talks to WISE Network
Since becoming a social enterprise Canolfan Beaumaris Leisure Centre has been looking for ways to reduce its reliance on gas and electricity, to improve its green credentials and help ensure a financially sustainable future. With limited resources they weren’t sure how as they didn’t have detailed knowledge of where all their energy goes.
They approached Bangor University’s Sustainable Businesses Team and in association with Menter Môn and WISE Network they were able to audit their energy consumption and identify associated financial risks. Their staff and directors have learnt a lot about how and when they use energy, as well as where they can make well informed, targeted, interventions. Temperature logger data collected since August 2014
Their limited time and money can now be spent wisely on the things that will really make a difference to optimising energy efficiency and financial outlay. And, of course, all the improvements they make will reduce their carbon emissions, translating directly into environmental benefits.
“We have greatly benefited from our engagement with the WISE Network programme and look forward to making further progress in both reducing the impact of our operations and extending our offer to those who are hard-to-reach.”
